PM Saubhagya Yojana has been initiated by the PM of India, Shri Narendra Modi Ji to give electricity facility to the poor Families of the country. Under this yojana, economically poor people of the country who are not able to acquire electricity connection (Economically poor people of the country cannot acquire electricity connection) and are living without electricity, those families are free from the central government.

About this Yojana

Under this yojana, Poor Families of both urban and rural areas of the country will be added. Those people of the country were selected on the basis of economic, social and ethnic census of 2011 for electricity connection. will be done, only those people whose name will appear in this socio-economic census will be provided electricity connection for free. Those people whose name will not be in this census can acquire electricity connection by paying only five hundred Rupees. He can also give this Rs. 500 in Ten Installments.

Objective

There are many people in India who still live with no electricity in their houses and because their financial condition is not good so they have to face a lot of issues. In order to overcome this issue, the Central Government has started the PM Saubhagya Yojana, via this yojana, providing free electricity connections to poor families in urban and rural areas of the country who do not have electricity in their homes.

Main Facts

  • Under this yojana, in those areas of the country where electricity has not yet reached, the central got will provide a solar pack to every house, which will have 5 LED bulbs and a fan.
  • Under this yojana, the govt will give solar power packs of 200 to 300 WP with battery bank to the un-electrified households located in remote and inaccessible areas, which will add 5 LEF Lights, 1 DC Fan and 1 DC Power plug included.
  • The aim of the govt is to give electricity to every household in every village and city under this yojana.
  • The central govt has allocated a budget of Rs. 16,320 Crore for the PM Saubhagya Yojana Implementation.
  • The govt will bear the repair cost of the battery bank for 5 years.

Ineligibility

  • Those families which have 2/3/4 wheeler or fishing boat.
  • Families with three to four wheeler agricultural equipment.
  • Households having kisan credit card limit above fifty thousand rupees.
  • If the applicant is govt employee then they can not acquire the advantage of this yojana.
  • Government registered families in the Non-agriculture sector are not eligible for this yojana.
  • If any family member is earning more than ten thousand rupees then that family is not eligible to acquire the benefit of this yojana.
  • The advantage of this yojana will not be given if there are income tax paying members in the family.
  • If the family member is paying the professional tax then that family will also not be provided the advantage of this yojana.
  • The advantage of this yojana will not be given if there is a landline phone or refrigerator in the house.
  • If there are three or more than three permanent rooms in the house, then even in this condition the advantage of this yojana will not be provided.
  • If the farmer has 2.5 acres of land and one agricultural equipment then the benefit of this yojana will not be provided.
  • The farmers with more than five acres of land can not acquire the advantage of this yojana.
  • Those families who are not eligible for the benefit of Saubhagya Yojana can acquire the electricity connection by paying 500 Rupees.

Implementation of Saubhagya Yojana

In order to run the PM Saubhagya Yojana, the Modern Technology like Mobile App will be used. Via this household survey will be done. Under this yojana the beneficiaries will be identified and beneficiaries will be registered on the spot. For this, the applicant has to fill the application form for the electricity connection with his photograph and ID Proof. In the rural Areas, Gram Panchayat and public institutions will be provided the responsibility of collecting the application forms with along with those documents. Also, they will also be provided the responsibility of distributing electricity bills and collecting revenue in consultation with Panchayat Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies. For the operation of this yojana, the Rural Electrification Corporation Limited has been made the nodal agency.
