For the poor pregnant women of our country, this Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan has been initiated. In the year 2016, this yojana has been started by the central govt. Via this yojana, free health services are given to pregnant women, they are given treatment facilities for free.
The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has administered this yojana. Under this yojana, all women will be provided free check up and treatment at the nearest health center near her home till the 9th of each month till her delivery. Beside this, if there is any problem in delivery, then the free of cost treatment will be given. And also if women has difficulty in delivery, to the higher medical centers, she can also be referred.

Objective
The Purpose of this Abhiyan by the Central Govt is to given the advantage of free medical check up to the pregnant women on the 9th of every month at all the health centers and govt hospitals. with the help of this, the pregnant women will get free advantage of good health and independent investigation. Beside this, the maternal mortality rate will also decrease. Women will become aware regarding their health condition and diseases. It will also help in making ensure the child health life safe delivery.
Eligibility
- This yojana is only for pregnant Women.

- Rural Areas pregnant women will get the advantage of free health care.
- Women will get the advantage in three to six months of pregnancy.

- Under this yojana, blood test, Hemoglobin Test, Blood Pressure, Urine Test, Ultrasound are done for free of cost to the women who will be pregnant.
- Under this yojana, the Pregnant women will be given the advantage of antenatal care services on 9th of each month. If on the 9th day is Sunday and holiday then, on the next working day, this day will be organized.
- The advantage of the health facilities and services will be given on the outreach in addition to regular ANC.
- These services will be provided by the govt at public health centers in rural as well as in urban areas.
- These services will be given to the pregnant women by OBGY Specialists/Physicians.
- Pregnant women will be provided the maternity and child protection cards and safe motherhood booklets.
- In order to identify the high risk pregnant women, the women will be provided stickers which will indicate the risk factors and situation of the women. During every test, this sticket will be affixed to the MCP Card.
- Those pregnant women who are not at any kind of risk will be provided the green sticket.
- The women who will be at high risk pregnancy will be provided red sticket.
- Women who have high blood pressure with pregnancy will be given blue sticker.
- Women who have STI Condition, Diabetes, Hypothyroidism with pregnancy will be given yellow sticker.
